Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CAPTIVATE (S Veale), TICKET TO VEGAS (P Strydom), WOMAN'S WORLD (K Steyn) and THE CHARLESTON (G van Niekerk) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GOLDEN SICKLE (R Fourie) was hanging out in the latter stages. b) In view of the performances of WITBLITS (JP van der Merwe), CAPTIVATE (S Veale) and ONI SAN (C Orffer) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine these fillies. c) Jockey K Steyn was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking WOMAN'S WORLD more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey K Steyn signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey K Steyn used his crop and the number of strikes (13). d) THE CHARLESTON, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
