THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	A fair start.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	At approximately the 100m BUGSY MALONE (A Mgudlwa) was brushed by UNIQUE POWER (J Gates) which was carried out marginally by PIKETBERG ALLEY (R Khathi) which rolled out.
b)	Jockey S Moodley appeared before the Board regarding the below par performance (6.30 lengths) of QUIZ MASTER. He explained to the Board in his opinion it was the removal of the blinkers for today's race that negatively affected this gelding's performance. He has advised Trainer L Karriem to re-fit the blinkers.  
c)	Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (guideline M), in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse JAZZ FESTIVAL more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey S Veale struck the horse JAZZ FESTIVAL, and his record (4) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R3000 was imposed.
d)	SLEEK AS SILK (*S Hlengwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P V Lafferty advised (NS).

a)	Jockey R Khathi was the rider of PIKEBERG ALLEY (advised 26.02.23/10h26).
b)	SLEEK AS SILK raced without blinkers (advised 23.02.23/15h35).
