THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FENNEC FOX (*K A Brewer) reared in the stalls. Trainer H van der Westhuizen was advised to reschool this filly prior to her next engagement (JB). b) ROSE FOR TRIPPI (K de Melo) and GOOD QUEEN BESS (GB) (N Klink) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) In the concluding stages, GOOD QUEEN BESS (GB) (N Klink) was steadied momentarily when racing into restricted galloping room between BELLA CHICA (R Munger) and ROSE FOR TRIPPI (K de Melo) b) Apprentice M K Katjedi, the rider of ROCKETS RED GLARE, accidentally dropped his crop at the 100m. c) Apprentice P Mxoli reported that ALULA'S STAR changed stride repeatedly in the latter part of the race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly d) COLD FACT (D Schwarz), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A P Peter advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) GOOD QUEEN BESS (GB) was ridden by Jockey N Klink (declared 26 February 2023 at 13H39). b) ROSE FOR TRIPPI: Jockey K de Melo weighed out at 53.6kg, 1kg over the carded weight. Jockey K de Melo was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the correct carded weight on the horse ROSE FOR TRIPPI, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with Trainers M/A Azzie. Jockey K de Melo signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) ALULA'S STAR blowing post race. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
