Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)	GILDED BUTTERFLY (K Matsunyane) and EMERALD PRINCESS (K de Melo) were slow into stride.	
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	SUPREME QUEST (M van Rensburg) took an awkward stride shortly after the start. 
b)	Leaving the 300m, RAIN IN HOLLAND (R Fourie) was brushed in by BUREAU DES LEGENDE (G Pieterse), which was steadied and directed inwards to avoid the heels of ULULATE (R Munger), which shifted in sharply away from the crop. 
c)	At approximately the 100m, GILDED BUTTERFLY (K Matsunyane) and EMERALD PRINCESS (K de Melo) came together and bumped when awkwardly placed between HOLLYWOODBOUND (G Lerena) and CLAFOUTIS (J Penny), which shifted out away from the crop. Thereafter, TERRA TIME (D Schwarz), was brushed out by HOLLYWOODBOUND (G Lerena), which was carried out by CLAFOUTIS (J Penny), which continued to shift out away from the crop. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board into these incidents, he was satisfied that the result of the race had not been affected and therefore took no further action. However, an inquiry will be opened into the incidents which transpired in the concluding stages of this race, 
d)	CLAFOUTIS (J Penny), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.

a)	CLAFOUTIS was ridden by Jockey J Penny (declared 26 February 2023 at 10H46).
