THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JET MIRAGE (S Khathi) rushed the front gates in the starting stalls and thereafter jumped slow, losing one length. b) CRUZADOR (K Steyn) and BRASS BELL (R Danielson) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey R Fourie (ON THE ROAD AGAIN) dropped his crop approaching the 200m. b) Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with LIFE ON MARS. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) AL QAASIM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised.
