THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)	EDEN OF AFRICA (*P Mxoli) jumped inwards leaving the stalls.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	When questioned regarding the change of tactics on IMPERSONATION (K de Melo), Trainer M N Houdalakis explained to the Board that in this filly's runs on 6 December 2022 and 9 January 2023, she had raced too keenly and without cover which had resulted in this filly fading out in these races. It was his intention today to instruct Jockey K de Melo to ride this filly with cover and from off the pace to allow her to finish the race off strongly. When adopting these tactics, IMPERSONATION had sat further back than he had originally planned.
b)	Jockey P Strydom did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. Thereafter, Jockey P Strydom reported that he felt something amiss with LADY ZULTANITE in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
	Trainer D N Stenger was requested to report back on the condition of this filly on return to stables.
c)	Jockey K de Melo reported that IMPERSONATION made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. 
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
d)	Jockey D Schwarz reported that DOUBLE JOY made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. 
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
e)	ISLAND BEAUTY (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
