THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TOZZETTI (D Schwarz) was examined by the course veterinary surgeon and withdrawn, causing a delay. b) OSCEOLA (L Mxothwa) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) An Inquiry will be held to establish why OSCEOLA (L Mxothwa) had to be checked away from the heels of QUASIMODO (G Lerena) approaching the 1700m mark. b) Jockey C Maujean (BOLD STRIKE) briefly dropped his right-side rein leaving the 300m. c) Jockey L Mxothwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline C on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking OSCEOLA on consecutive strides. Jockey L Mxothwa signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. d) QUASIMODO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised.
