Race 1: 4RACING WELCOMES YOU WORK RIDERS MAIDEN PLATE (F & M) (For Maiden F & M. R15 000 Win bonus ROA Members)

THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)	DOUBLE JOY (+S Mosia) was stubborn loading and thereafter reared in the stalls. 
Trainer D Nieuwenhuizen was advised to reschool this filly prior to her next engagement (GT).
b)	ELUSIVE FIRE (+I Lukhele) and LEAHLICIOUS (+S Siphika) were restless in the stalls.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	Shortly after the start, WOW (+V Sithetho), THREE BELLS (+P Mongqawa), EURYDICE (+W van Staden) and LEAHLICIOUS (+G Dadamasi) suffered varying degrees of interference on the inside of DAME COLLEEN (+A Feni), which shifted inwards.	
Work Rider A Feni was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that he, as the rider of DAME COLLEEN, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to a number of runners when he shifted in at approximately the 1300m.  Work Rider A Feni signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in one (1) Work Riders race.
Suspension date:  30 March 2023.
b)	Shortly after the start, a number of runners suffered varying degrees of interference when carried in by  WRITTENINTHESAND (+T Matsoele), which was  directed inwards from a wide draw. 
Work Rider T Matsoele was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that he, as the rider of WRITTENINTHESAND, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to a number of runners when he shifted in at approximately the 1200m.  Work Rider T Matsoele signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in two (2) Work Riders race.
Suspension dates:  30 March 2023 and 4 April 2023.
c)	At approximately the 1300m, TOGETHER AGAIN (+T Lukhele) had to steady when racing in restricted galloping room between the inside running rail and UNYIELDING (+C Mabaya), which commenced to over-race and proved difficult negotiating the turn.
d)	The saddle on EFFICIENT TRADER (+S Mkhumbuzi) slipped forwards (as confirmed by video evidence)  at approximately the 1200m, which resulted in the lead bag being dislodged. Work Rider S Mkhumbuzi's equipment was checked by a member of the Stipendiary Board and found to be in good working order. The Clerk of Scales lodged an objection against EFFICIENT TRADER in terms of Rule 68.2.11 in that Work Rider S Mkhumbuzi weighed in 8kg under the weight at which he was declared out at. After giving regard to the evidence, the objection was upheld and in terms of Rule 69.7, EFFICIENT TRADER was disqualified.
e)	WRITTENINTHESAND (+T Matsoele), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F P Habib advised (MduP).
f)	DAME COLLEEN (+A Feni), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. 
Trainer J A Visser advised (MS).

WORK RIDER CHANGES:
a)	LEAHLICIOUS  was ridden by Work Rider S Siphika (declared 16 March 2023 at 07H45).

RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:
None.

THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:
a)	WOW not striding out right front.	
b)	UNYIELDING coughing post race.
c)	THREE BELLS cut into left hind hock; cast its left hind shoe in running. 

THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. 
 

DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER:

a)	EFFICIENT TRADER disqualified in terms of Rule 69.7.
