Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HEART PEAKS (MK Katjedi) was nervous in the stalls. b) ESSENTIAL (K Minnie) was nervous in the stalls and slow into stride. c) BACK FOR MORE (S Khathi) took an awkward stride leaving the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ESSENTIAL (K Minnie) and BACK FOR MORE (S Khathi) over raced in the early and middle stages. b) A PLACE IN THE SUN (X Ndlovu) raced wide without cover on the turn and into the straight. c) GIMME'S LASSIE (C Zackey) was hanging out from the 200m. d) Jockey C Maujean reported that AMAZING COLOURS did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised to report back should she find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. e) Trainer TJ Laing was questioned with regard to the improved performance of HEART PEAKS compared to this filly's previous performances. She had no suitable explanation for this filly's improved performance. Trainer Laing's attention was drawn to the Rule pertaining to in-and-out running and she was further advised that this filly's future performances will be monitored. f) HEART PEAKS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer TJ Laing was advised. (LM) g) GIMME'S LASSIE, the third-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer DG Smith, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised.
