THE STARTER REPORTED: a) The bit on STATE OF MIND (G van Niekerk) had to be adjusted, causing a delay. b) RESPECTABLE MISS (K Minnie) was stubborn loading. c) JUST POWER (TM Musekiwa) was stubborn loading and nervous in the stalls. d) WINTERTIME (T Gould) was nervous in the stalls. e) OPERA SWING (JP van der Merwe) jumped slow, losing one length. f) MRS HOTLINE (S Khathi) and CRAFTY HEART (D Schwarz) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MAIDEN'S COVE (L MXOTHWA) raced wide without cover throughout. b) For a short distance, leaving the 400m, STATE OF MIND (G van Niekerk) raced in restricted galloping room on the outside of MAIDEN'S COVE (L Mxothwa). c) In view of the performance of CAPE BOUQUET (S Khumalo) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) In view of the report from the Starter regarding RESPECTABLE MISS (K Minnie), Trainer AC Greeff will be advised to have this mare re-schooled prior to her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. e) Jockey G van Niekerk was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on STATE OF MIND. Jockey G van Niekerk signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000.00. f) Jockey TM Musekiwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 66.4 (read with Guideline 1 on overweight) in that he, as the rider of JUST POWER weighed back in, in excess of 1kg (57.6kgs) over the weight at which he was declared out. Jockey TM Musekiwa signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000.00. g) Jockey G van Niekerk was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline C on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking STATE OF MIND more than 3 times on consecutive strides leaving the 400m. Jockey G van Niekerk signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. h) WILDEST DREAMS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
