Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PANTEA (*M K Katjedi) was squeezed out shortly after the start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 250m, PRINCESS SANTO (J Gates), which was hanging in from the 350m, was brushed in by MAQUETTE (S Veale) which was switched in away from FLYING THE STAR (K de Melo) which rolled in marginally. b) Leaving the 200m, VISION OF WILL (M Yeni) was switched to the outside of a tiring FLYING THE STAR (K de Melo) to continue its run. c) At the 100m IN THE ETHER (*P Mxoli) became baulked for a clear run for a number of strides and thereafter was switched to the outside of VICTORY BELLE (A Arries) to obtain clear running resulting in RIO'S KISS (A Mgudlwa) having to be eased. Apprentice P Mxoli signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of IN THE ETHER, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to RIO'S KISS (A Mgudlwa) at approximately the 100m. Accordingly a suspension of riding in races for a period of 7 days was imposed. (Dates to be advised). d) SHONA KIRSTY YVES (*S Hlengwa) had difficulty obtaining a clear run in the concluding stages. e) Jockey K de Melo reported that FLYING THE STAR made an abnormal respiratory noise and was coughing post-race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) MAQUETTE (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D C Howells advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) RIO'S KISS was ridden by Jockey A Mgudlwa (advised 02.04.23/09h20). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) FLYING THE STAR : Not striding out right front. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS : DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None.
