THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROYAL AUSSIE (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 250m WE'RE JAMMING (G van Niekerk) was steadied when awkwardly placed between ROYAL AUSSIE (R Fourie) and FIREALLEY (A Domeyer). Thereafter, Jockey G van Niekerk did not persevere with his riding of WE'RE JAMMING. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) In view of the performance of FIFTY FIVER (C Zackey), which tired quickly from the 300m and was not persevered with in the latter stages, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey R Fourie reported that ROYAL AUSSIE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt. d) In view of the performance of DO ANGELS CRY (D Ashby) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare. e) TOUT A FAIT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Snaith, acting on behalf of Trainer SJ Snaith, was advised. (TJ) f) GRINKOV, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
