Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GOLDEN HOSTESS (A Domeyer) stood awkwardly in the stalls and jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 150m ECHO OF LIFE (C Zackey) had to be steadied momentarily when carried out by KWINTA'S LIGHT (G van Niekerk), which was hanging out and shifted out gradually from the 300m. Jockey G van Niekerk appeared before the Board and was advised to take stronger corrective measures to keep his mounts on a straight course in similar circumstances. He was further advised that this was the second occasion at today's meeting that he had been spoken to and that should this trend of not correcting his mounts timeously continue, he will face a more serious sanction. b) Jockey R Fourie reported that he felt something amiss with GIMME DAT and he did not persevere with his riding from the 150m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey K de Melo reported that GIMME'S LASSIE felt uncomfortable in its action and did not respond to his urgings in the latter stages.
