Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SANKOFA (C Maujean) refused to load. The starting stall certificate for this filly has been withdrawn. Trainer D N Stenger was advised (GT). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, CHILLI MARMALADE (*D B Geerthsen) was brushed out by BOSSY BOOTS (*K A Brewer), which was carried out by PUNTA ALTA (*P Mxoli), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) WAR EMPRESS (R Munger) hung in throughout c) GLITTERFOX (M Yeni) took an awkward stride at approximately the 800m. d) Apprentice K A Brewer eased BOSSY BOOTS out of the race from the 800m. Thereafter, Apprentice K A Brewer reported that he felt something amiss with this filly in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer F P Habib was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of BOSSY BOOTS on return to stables. e) Jockey R Munger reported that WAR EMPRESS made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) Jockey P Strydom reported that he felt something amiss with COUNT YOUR CHANCES in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. g) In view of the Starter's report with regard to SANKOFA, this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion. Suspension dates: 7 April 2023 to 13 April 2023. SANKOFA may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer D N Stenger was advised. h) WAR EMPRESS (R Munger), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer K Mayhew-Munger, acting on behalf of Trainer A B Fortune, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) REGINA BELLISSIMA was ridden by Jockey G Lerena (declared 6 April 2023 at 13H40). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) SANKOFA raced equipped with a compression mask and a pressure halter (declared 5 April 2023 at 09H37).
