THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PURPLE POWAHOUSE (*R A Venniker) and PHAKA IMALI (A Arries) lost 1 length. b) PHINDA MZALA (K Matsunyane) stumbled shortly after the start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 300m PHINDA MZALA (K Matsunyane) was carried out marginally by QUIZ MASTER (J Gates) which shifted out. Thereafter, at the 150m, QUIZ MASTER (J Gates) shifted out away from the crop making contact and unbalancing PHINDA MZALA (K Matsunyane). Jockey J Gates appeared before the Board with regard to this incident and was advised to correct his mounts sooner when they shift ground in races in future. b) At the 100m PHAKA IMALI (A Arries) was switched to the inside of QUIZ MASTER (J Gates) to continue its run. c) In view of the performance of MAJORCA PALACE (S Moodley) (8.25 lengths, 4/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) PHAKA IMALI (A Arries), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
