THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KIT KAT KATIE (+W van Staden) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) AUNT PITTYPAT (+S Mosia) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 100m, PARADISE FLOWER (+S B Mthembu), which commenced to hang in, was steadied and directed inwards to avoid the heels of MISS CHRISTMAS (+T Lukhele), which in turn was carried out marginally by CHATEAU FUTURA (+P Mongqawa), which hung out badly from the 400m. b) Work Rider S Mosia reported that he felt something amiss with AUNT PITTYPAT in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Work Rider W van Staden was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 in that he used his crop in a manner which was in contravention of the conditions of the Race, by striking KIT KAT KATIE on one occasion with his crop, when his crop hand was off the reins. Work Rider W van Staden signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in one (1) Work Rider race. Suspension date: 11 May 2023. d) CHATEAU FUTURA (+P Mongqawa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer R Klaasen advised (MS). WORK RIDER CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) PARADISE FLOWER raced with a tongue tie on (declared 10 April 2023 at 08H08).
