THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CASTLE CORNER (*P Mxoli) was slow into stride. b) SACRED LOTUS (*K A Brewer) and SUPER AGRA (G Lerena) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, CASTLE CORNER (*P Mxoli) was brushed out by SUPER AGRA (G Lerena) which jumped outwards leaving stalls. b) An Inquiry will be opened to establish why NORDIC REBEL (D Schwarz) and CLEVELAND (M Yeni) had to ease at approximately the 1200m. c) In the concluding stages, GOLDEN SPOON (R Fourie) was brushed in when carried in by SUPER AGRA (G Lerena) which rolled in from the 300m. d) Jockey G Lerena reported that he felt something amiss with SUPER AGRA in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) EURO CENT (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P A Peter advised (DR). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) NORDIC REBEL raced fitted with a compression mask (declared 18 January 2022 at 11H48). b) SUPER AGRA raced equipped with blinkers (declared 22 January 2022 at 07H21). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) NORDIC REBEL cut into right hind. b) SUPER AGRA examined post race, nothing obvious detected. SCRATCHED: a) WAQAAS (AUS) insufficient recovery time (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
