Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DOG DETACHMENT (S Moodley) refused to load and was withdrawn, causing a delay. b) ABSOLU NOIR (T Gould) was stubborn loading. c) ON THE ROAD AGAIN (R Fourie) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Light rain fell prior to and during the running of this race. b) The saddle on POMODORO MAGIC (L Nhlapo) had to be re-fitted at the start. c) TRACK COMMANDER (JP van der Merwe) and PATH OF CHOICE (K Minnie) refused to settle in the early and middle stages. d) Leaving the 1200m FEDERAL RESERVE (X Ndlovu) was momentarily unbalanced when brushed on the hindquarters by ABSOLU NOIR (T Gould). Thereafter, FEDERAL RESERVE (X Ndlovu) raced wide on the turn and into the straight. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine FEDERAL RESERVE (X Ndlovu). e) In view of the performance of DUKE OF ORANGE (Y Ramzan), which was hanging in in the straight and was not persevered with from the 150m, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) In view of the report from the starter regarding DOG DETACHMENT (S Moodley) and taking into account this gelding's previous history, the starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 30 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable to load with a companion. Suspension dates: 15/04/2023 to 14/05/2023 inclusive). DOG DETACHMENT may not be presented for re-passing during this period. g) GUNSMOKE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer TJ Laing was advised.
