THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SOUND OF HOOVES (JR Syster) was stubborn loading, kicked and had to be hooded, causing a delay. b) VANDALISE (R Fourie) was nervous in the stalls. c) WATCH TOWER (JP van der Merwe) was nervous in the stalls and rushed the front gates. d) EMPIRE BLUE (S Khathi) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start SOL CAT (L Mxothwa) commenced to over race and then had to be steadied off the heels of RED LOVE (L Nhlapo), which rolled in marginally. Jockey L Nhlapo appeared before the Board and was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. b) In view of the report from the Starter regarding SOUND OF HOOVES (JR Syster), this colt's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable to load with a companion. Suspension dates: 18/04/2023 to 24/04/2023 inclusive). SOUND OF HOOVES may not be presented for re-passing during this period. c) WATCH TOWER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer DG Smith, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised.
