THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	GREEK MAFIA (S Khathi) was nervous in the stalls.
b)	PRINCIPESSA MIA (R Fourie) was nervous in the stalls and thereafter, slow into stride.
c)	MANTIS KING (K Steyn) jumped slow, losing one length.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Shortly after the start LOVIN' YOU BABY (L Nhlapo) was bumped on the hindquarters by HAPPINESS IS (Y Ramzan), which shifted in leaving the stalls.
b)	Leaving the 800m GONDOLA KING went amiss and was immediately pulled out of the race by Jockey JR Syster. This colt was attended to on course by the veterinary surgeon.
c)	At the 200m PRINCEPESSA MIA (R Fourie), which raced green, shifted in away from the crop and had to be straightened.
d)	Trainer L Lotz was charged with a contravention of Rule 11.2.8 in that he presented DASHING LEGEND and TUNE AGAIN incorrectly shod in the parade ring. Assistant Trainer A Lotz, acting on behalf of Trainer L Lotz, signed an Admission of Guilt and Trainer L Lotz was fined R2500.00.
e)	THE WINTER LAKE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer DG Smith, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised. (HK)

Rule 53.5 applies (declared 10h44 on 20230421) - At the request of the Stewards MIRACULOUS MAN was examined by the veterinary surgeon at the stables of Trainer K Mitchley at 11h00 on 21/04/2023, who reported that the gelding had abrasions on its left front cannon and on the left hind hock. He further reported that these injuries were consistent with a horse that had been cast in its box.
