THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MAJOR WINTER (O Noach) was restless in the stalls. b) PAPER TRAIL (C Orffer) jumped awkwardly, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that UMVOTI failed to respond to his urgings in the straight, made a respiratory noise and he did not persevere with his riding from the 100m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) Jockey R Fourie reported that LIKETHECLAPPERS made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) FLY TO RIO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GW Ennion was advised.
