Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	Shortly before the start was effected IZHIESTIA (M Thackeray) rushed the front gates, resulting in the Starter calling a false start. All runners were immediately restrained by their respective riders with the exception of AT THE OPERA (JP van der Merwe), which was pulled up at the 1400m. All horses were examined by the course veterinary surgeon and passed suitable to race.
b)	DOUGLAS DEVASTATOR (R Fourie) was nervous in the stalls and rushed the front gates, thereafter stood awkwardly and jumped slow, losing one length.
c)	KAPUZINER (L Nhlapo) kicked the back gates in the starting stalls.
d)	IZHIESTIA (M Thackeray) was nervous and fly-jumped leaving the stalls.
e)	ALMIGHWAAR (D Schwarz) jumped awkwardly outwards, losing one length.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	The start of this race was delayed due to the false start.
b)	Jockey R Fourie reported that DOUGLAS DEVASTATOR did not stride out freely in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 250m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c)	Jockey T Gould (PRINCE OF HEAVEN) briefly dropped his left-side rein at the 200m.
d)	Jockey L Mxothwa (MY BOY REECEY) reported that this gelding felt uncomfortable in its action and had a tendency to hang out in the straight. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	In view of the report from the Starter regarding IZHIESTIA (M Thackeray), Trainer TJ Laing will be advised to have this mare re-schooled prior to her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
f)	ESSOS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised. (HK)
