THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CAPTAIN CASANOVA (D de Gouveia) jumped inwards. b) LINES CROSSED (G van Niekerk) and OVER EMOTIONAL (O Noach) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, REMEMBER MY NAME (R Fourie) cast its left front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced, causing a delay. b) Jockey D de Gouveia reported that he felt something amiss with CAPTAIN CASANOVA, which raced with its head up and proved difficult to settle while attempting to get cover in the early stages. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Leaving the 250m REMEMBER MY NAME (R Fourie), which was hanging out, changed stride awkwardly when straightened. d) Trainer VH Marshall was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1 in that he failed to notify the local office of the National Horseracing Authority within two (2) business days that OVER EMOTIONAL had been gelded. Assistant Trainer A Alsop, acting on behalf of Trainer VH Marshall, signed an Admission of Guilt and Trainer VH Marshall was given a warning. e) MIGHTY MAC, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer PD Reeves was advised.
