THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BIG EYED GIRL (G Lerena) jumped sharply inwards leaving the stalls. b) ROZARA (M Yeni) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, MAY QUEEN (P Strydom) VIVACIOUS SPIRIT (*S Sosibo), SILVER WINTER (K Matsunyane) and STRIKE A MATCH (*P Mxoli) suffered varying degrees of interference when BIG EYED GIRL (G Lerena) jumped sharply inwards leaving the stalls. As a result of this, SILVER WINTER (K Matsunyane) ran onto and clipped the heels of STRIKE A MATCH (*P Mxoli). b) Jockey K de Melo reported that CIVIL PRINCESS did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) BIG EYED GIRL (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis (LK). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) MAY QUEEN was ridden by Jockey P Strydom (declared 7 May 2023 at 15H28). b) WINGS OF NIKE: Jockey D Schwarz weighed out at 56,2kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) STRIKE A MATCH raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 6 May 2023 at 09H22). b) CIVIL PRINCESS (ARG) raced equipped with ear muffs (declared 7 May 2023 at 08H16).
