THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DHONI (G Lerena) and LT ALEXANDER (J P van der Merwe) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BATTLE OF KURSK (M Yeni) proved reluctant to proceed to the start and had to be led by a Handler. Trainer R R Magner was advised that should this colt behave in a similar manner in future, it may be suspended. b) Jockey J P van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with LT ALEXANDER in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. c) WILLIAM IRON ARM (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
