THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	PAINITE (L Nhlapo) and SJAMBOK (R Fourie) were nervous in the stalls.
b)	WOLFRAM (K Minnie) jumped slow, losing one length.
c)	SASSY (M Yeni) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Shortly after the start SASSY (M Yeni) and BELLE'S FIRST WAVE (M Thackeray) bumped.
b)	PAINITE (L Nhlapo) proved difficult to settle in the early stages.
c)	Approaching the 1700m POPPING CREASE (L Mxothwa) was steadied off the heels of JACK RYAN (G van Niekerk), shifted out and made contact with SPACE EXPLORER (G Lerena).
d)	Jockey R Fourie reported that SJAMBOK made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	Jockey S Khathi was charged with a contravention of Rule 21.7 in that he accepted to ride both TWICE A SAINT and GOLF FOR AFRICA in Race 4. Jockey S Khathi signed Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000,00.
f)	POPPING CREASE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised. (HK)
