THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	LUNCH MONEY (G Wright) jumped outwards.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	At the 600m DANCE VARIETY (A Domeyer) had to be encouraged to hold its position when racing tight between SUPERIOR LEADER (A Andrews) and BONANZA (D Ashby).
b)	Approaching the 50m DANCE VARIETY (A Domeyer), which was initially carried inwards slightly by BONANZA (D Ashby), rolled in and raced tight with NIGHT TIGER (M Winnaar). Thereafter, DANCE VARIETY (A Domeyer) rolled out and made light contact with the hindquarters of BONANZA (D Ashby) at the finish.
c)	In view of the performance of BULLITT (C Orffer), which raced to the front of the field in the early stages and tired quickly from the 350m, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d)	Jockey A Andrews reported that he felt something amiss with SUPERIOR LEADER. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	Jockey D Ashby was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking BONANZA more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey D Ashby signed an admission of guilt and was fined R3000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account his record and the number of strikes (13).
f)	NIGHT TIGER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (TJ)
