Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FAUSTINO (B Jacobson) rushed the front gates, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon whilst in the stalls and passed fit to race. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At approximately the 400m, NAARAH (A Arries) had to be steadied momentarily when it was anticipated that it would be awkwardly placed on the heels of GOLIATH HERON (K Matsunyane) which shifted out. The Board, after reviewing this incident from the various angles, was satisfied that Jockey K Matsunyane (GOLIATH HERON) was sufficiently clear of NAARAH (A Arries) and therefore took no further action. b) At approximately the 300m, FAUSTINO (B Jacobson) was awkwardly placed between HOOVES OF TROY (K de Melo) which was hanging in from the 400m and GOLIATH HERON (K Matsunyane) which shifted out. Jockey K Matsunyane appeared before the Board and was advised to ensure that he takes timeous corrective measures to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in races in future. c) ADDIENA (S Hlengwa) shifted out away from the crop from the 200m. d) In view of the performance of HOOVES OF TROY (K de Melo) (5.45 lengths, 4/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) JUSTAGUYTHING (A Mgudlwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey T Godden was the rider of LUNARCAM (advised 24.05.23/09h06). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) ADDIENA : Abnormal respiratory noise and not striding out left front. b) HOOVES OF TROY : Cut into left hind and coughing. c) NAARAH : Coughing. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS : DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None.
