Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VOLTE FACE (J R Syster) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) As the start was effected, VOLTE FACE (J R Syster) jumped awkwardly inwards making contact with the right-side front gate leaving the stalls. b) Shortly after the start, FLIGHT DE GRACE (J Penny) was buffeted between ATCHISON TOPEKA (K Matsunyane) and KING'S EXPRESS (M Yeni), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. Thereafter, SWORD OF MERCY (S Khumalo) was unbalanced and had its hindquarters turned outwards when bumped by KING'S EXPRESS (M Yeni), which was awkwardly placed between ATCHISON TOPEKA (K Matsunyane) and SWORD OF MERCY (S Khumalo), which rolled in. c) SWORD OF MERCY (S Khumalo) over-raced in the early stages. d) ATCHISON TOPEKA (K Matsunyane) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. e) RAINING RUBIES (Wes Marwing) over-raced in the early and middle stages. f) SWORD OF MERCY (S Khumalo) commenced to hang in from the 400m. g) KING'S EXPRESS (M Yeni) commenced to hang in from the 300m. h) EVERY CLOUD (*S Sosibo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Botes advised (LK). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) ATCHISON TOPEKA was ridden by Jockey K Matsunyane (declared 25 May 2023 at 13H53). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) VOLTE FACE raced equipped with alumites in front and steel shoes behind (declared 18 May 2023 at 13H52). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) RAINING RUBIES abnormal respiratory noise. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
