THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CHELSEA FLOWER (S Veale) and MISS JACQUELINE (S Moodley) lost 1 length, respectively. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Jockey C Habib reported that ROY'S ROCKER changed stride continually in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse CHELSEA FLOWER more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey S Veale struck the horse CHELSEA FLOWER, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (4) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. Jockey S Veale was further advised that the frequency of his appearances in the Boardroom with regard to contraventions of this Rule are unacceptable and that should he appear before the Board regarding a similar incident in the near future, more severe sanctions may follow. c) HEARTSEASE (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Roscoe acting on behalf of Trainer D Kannemeyer advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) COZY DOT COM raced with alumites in front, unshod behind (advised 14.01.22/10h17). b) ISLA MORADA raced with a compression mask. c) CHELSEA FLOWER raced equipped with blinkers (advised 25.01.22/14h21).
