Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SNOW PILOT (R Fourie) and ALL ABOUT RONNIE (L Mxothwa) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After being steadied from a wide draw SNOW PILOT (R Fourie) commenced to over race in the middle stages, rolled out approaching the 700m and made contact with the hindquarters of WILLIAM THE RED (C Zackey). b) Jockey C Zackey reported that after being bumped at the 700m, WILLIAM THE RED felt uncomfortable in its action and did not respond to his urgings in the straight. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Leaving the 400m SNOW PILOT (R Fourie), which was initially allowed to shift inwards, had to be directed outwards to secure clear running. d) Approaching the 300m TWICE TOLD (JP van der Merwe) had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the inside of ALL ABOUT RONNIE (L Mxothwa), which shifted in away from DESTINY'S ANGEL (K Steyn). e) Approaching the 100m STATE OF SHOCK (O Noach) was momentarily unbalanced when brushed on the hindquarters by ADMIRAL'S RANSOM (J Jacobs), which shifted out away from DESTINY'S ANGEL (K Steyn), which was carried out by ALL ABOUT RONNIE (L Mxothwa), which improved and was directed outwards into clear running. Jockey L Mxothwa appeared before the Board and was advised to take more care in similar circumstances. f) At the 150m BENNELONG POINT (A Andrews) and SNOW CLOUD (D Ashby) brushed. g) LAUGHING WILLIAM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis Trainer AE Sands was advised. (TJ) h) RED WLLIAM, the third-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer T Woolard, acting on behalf of Trainer GS Kotzen, was advised.
