THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ARTURO (R Fourie) was nervous in the stalls. b) SHERVIL GLOW (E Webber) was nervous in the stalls and jumped slow, losing one length. c) GUERRA (S Khathi) was nervous in the stalls and jumped slow, losing two lengths. d) CAPTAIN ROMEO (JP van der Merwe) jumped slow, losing one length. e) SEETHEBADGE (M Yeni) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GUERRA (S Khathi) was hanging in from the 400m. b) Approaching the 200m SINGLE FILE (L Mxothwa), which was hanging in, was directed inwards to secure clear running. c) At the 100m Jockey S Khumalo (AADEHYA) had his crop struck from his hand by Jockey R Fourie (ARTURO). After reviewing the patrol film, the Stewards were satisfied that this was accidental. d) Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that CAPTAIN ROMEO made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt. e) Trainer WGC Miller was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1 in that he failed to notify the local office of the National Horseracing Authority within two (2) business days that SHERVIL GLOW had been gelded. Stable Employee NJ Paddock, acting on behalf of Trainer WGC Miller, signed an Admission of Guilt and Trainer WGC Miller was fined R 250,00. f) ARTURO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (HK) g) SINGLE FILE, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised.
