Race 2: LaLiga MAIDEN PLATE (For all Maidens)

THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	EXPLOSIVE SPEED (K de Melo) lost 1 length.
  
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	As the start was effected POWER STAR (*R A Venniker) was brushed in by ABERDEEN (R Fourie) which jumped in slightly. Immediately thereafter POWER STAR (*R A Venniker) raced tight when carried out and brushed COSMIC RHYTHM (S Khumalo) which made heavy contact with NAVAJO NATION (J P v'd Merwe). During this incident KYOMAI (D Schwarz) and EXCALIBUR CALLS (A Arries) which was awkwardly placed on the heels of PETTEIA (G van Niekerk), brushed on a number of occasions. The Stewards in assessing this incident ruled that it was a racing incident involving marginal movements and identified a source of the incident as THE NOAH (M Yeni) which shifted out as the gates opened when it received some pressure from GIANT'S CASTLE (R Khathi) which itself jumped outwards.
b)	THE NOAH (M Yeni) commenced to hang inwards and raced awkwardly shortly before it entered the straight and as his mount had commenced to give ground, Jockey Yeni desisted from riding the colt with vigour. After the race Jockey Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with THE NOAH in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
c)	In the concluding stages ABERDEEN (R Fourie) which had raced prominently was awkwardly placed between the heels of POWER STAR (*R A Venniker) and PETTEIA (G van Niekerk), both of which closed the race strongly and shifted marginal ground.
d)	Trainer M Rix signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of RULE 8.3.1., in that she failed to ensure that the owner's colours were available for COSMIC RYTHYM. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed.
e)	KYOMAI (D Schwarz), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A P Peter advised (NS).

JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a)	GIANTS CASTLE raced without blinkers (advised 10.06.23/07h31).
b)	SEATTLEGREENLIGHT raced without blinkers (advised 10.06.23/07h48).
c)	COSMIC RHYTHM raced in club colours.
d)	Jockey G van Niekerk replaced Jockey G Lerena while his medical condition was assessed by the on course Medical Officer. Subsequently, Jockey Lerena was transferred to hospital for further observation. He was replaced on the balance of his rides. The Stewards are awaiting the report from the hospital that attended to Jockey G Lerena and/or a report from a medical specialist and have deferred a decision on the provisions of Rule 25.12.

a)	SEATTLEGREENLIGHT is a gelding (Gelding date 03.02.2023).
