THE STARTER REPORTED: a) INVENTRIX (S Khumalo) and BLUSH OF DAWN (C Maujean) were restless in the stalls, removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) EFFICIENT TRADER (A Mgudlwa) was hanging out, in the straight. b) In view of the performances of NEW ORLEANS (K de Melo) (7.90 lengths, 25/2 in the betting) and QUEEN MERCURY (D Daniels) (8.30 lengths, 25/2 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey R Khathi signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of RULE 55.4, in that as the rider of QUEEN MERCURY, he failed to weigh out at the carded weight resulting in a change of rider. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. d) DOUBLE DREAM (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer V H Marshall advised (HM).
