THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	A fair start.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	IMPOSING (*R A Venniker) refused to parade in front of the grandstand. Trainer M L Roberts will be advised that should this gelding behave similarly in future it may be suspended.
b)	After being slow into stride SAN PEDRO (A Arries) commenced to prove difficult to settle and shifted outwards for a short distance leaving the 1200m and had to be directed inwards to take up a three wide position for the remainder of the turn.
c)	Jockey S Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss with VIRGINIA SWEET in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
d)	Jockey J Gates reported that FAMOUS AND RICH made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
e)	RELEASE ME (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P V Lafferty advised (NS).
