Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HAWKBILL (C Zackey) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) PEMBROKE (*K A Brewer), GOLDEN TORRENT (*D B Geerthsen), CAPTAIN EFFICIENT (M Yeni) and POCKET WATCH (D De Gouveia) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) As the start was effected, THE DONELLY (B Nyawo) and CAPTAIN EFFICIENT (M Yeni), which stumbled leaving the stalls, came together and bumped. b) Shortly after the start, PEMBROKE (*K A Brewer) was brushed in by PARADISE FLOWER (M van Rensburg), which was bumped in by HAWKBILL (C Zackey), which jumped inwards sharply leaving the stalls. c) At approximately the 200m, GEORGE HANDEL (S Khumalo) and HAWKBILL (C Zackey) were carried in marginally by HOTARUBI (K de Melo), which was switched in off the heels of RAINING RUBIES (Wes Marwing), which had come to the end of its run. d) Apprentice D B Geerthsen reported that GOLDEN TORRENT made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. e) HAWKBILL (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M N Houdalakis advised (LK). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) FUTURE KNIGHT was ridden by Jockey R Danielson (declared 13 June 2023 at 09H08). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) GOLDEN TORRENT raced with a cornell collar (declared 26 May 2023). b) THE DONELLY raced without blinkers (declared 8 June 2023 at 09H59). c) HOTARUBI raced equipped with cheek pieces and without blinkers (declared 13 June 2023 at 08H22).
