Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	DOUGLAS DEVASTATOR (K Minnie) was nervous in the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride.
b)	ALADO'S PRIDE (S Khathi)  was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	From a wide draw AMERICAN DREAM (S Khumalo) was unable to get cover and, as a consequence, refused to settle in the early and middle stages. Jockey S Khumalo reported that this gelding made a respiratory noise in running, had tired quickly and he did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
b)	Leaving the 200m ALADO'S PRIDE (S Khathi), which was initially held up for a clear run upon entering the straight, had to be steadied when tightened for galloping room between SILVER STARDUST (R Fourie) and ESSOS (G Pieterse), both of which shifted ground marginally. Thereafter Jockey S Khathi was unable to ride this gelding to the finish when close to the heels of SILVER STARDUST (R Fourie) and ESSOS (G Pieterse).
c)	MY BOY REECEY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised. (HK)
