THE STARTER REPORTED: a) THEN IN FOCUS (S Khumalo) kicked the back gates of the stalls repeatedly, was taken out, examined by the course veterinary surgeon and withdrawn. b) MOON GAME (L Mxothwa) and VISTA NOVA (K Steyn) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) EYJAFJALLAJOKULL (G Pieterse) brushed the inside running rail leaving the 500m. b) In view of the performance of DAUGHTER OF ZEUS (R Fourie), which was brushed outwards by FATHER'S FROST (S Khathi) leaving the 500m and thereafter raced wide into the straight, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare. c) In view of the report from the starter regarding THEN IN FOCUS (S Khumalo), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 17/06/2023 to 23/06/2023 inclusive. THEN IN FOCUS may not be presented for re-passing during this period. d) MOON GAME, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised.
