THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BATTLE OF KURSK (M Yeni) and LONGSWORD (K de Melo) were stubborn loading. b) STORM AHEAD (S Khumalo) was stubborn loading and thereafter stumbled leaving the stalls. c) SCARLETT PIMPERNEL (M van Rensburg) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. d) SCAMPTON (C Habib) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, ROCK OF AGES (*M K Katjedi) ran onto and clipped the heels of SCARLETT PIMPERNEL (M van Rensburg), which jumped awkwardly inwards leaving the stalls. b) SCAMPTON (C Habib) hung in from the 300m. c) In view of the performance of STORM AHEAD (S Khumalo), (distance 11,25 lengths, betting 3/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. d) NAZARE (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
