Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TINDER DRY (S Khumalo) jumped outwards sharply leaving the stalls. b) MAMAQUERA (J Gates) and HOTCHIWITCHI (J Penny) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, PRINCESS ILARIA (C Zackey) and BEGUILING (M Yeni) were brushed out by SAY YES (D Schwarz), which was carried out by TINDER DRY (S Khumalo), which jumped awkwardly outwards leaving the stalls. b) At approximately the 1400m, TINDER DRY (S Khumalo) was steadied when carried in by BEGUILING (M Yeni), which shifted in when insufficiently clear. This resulted in Jockey J Penny (HOTCHIWITCHI) having to check to avoid the heels of TINDER DRY (S Khumalo). Jockey M Yeni was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that he, as the rider of BEGUILING, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to TINDER DRY (S Khumalo) and HOTCHIWITCHI (J Penny) when he shifted in at approximately the 1400m. Jockey M Yeni signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of seven (7) days. Suspension dates: 2 July 2023 to 8 July 2023 (both days inclusive). c) SAY YES (D Schwarz), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A P Peter advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) LUNAR BALLADE was to be ridden by Jockey G Lerena (declared 21 June 2023 at 10H31). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) WIKKEL SPIKKEL raced with cornell collar (declared 15 June 2023). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) WIKKEL SPIKKEL cut into left hind; blowing post race. b) DELLA'S SWORD fatigued. c) HOTCHIWITCHI brush wound left hind; coughing post race. SCRATCHED: a) LUNAR BALLADE lame right front (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
