Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	IDEAL ANGEL (L Mxothwa), MAGNUM FIRE (M Yeni) and LORD NELSON (L Nhlapo) were slow into stride.
b)	GREAT AFFAIR (M Thackeray) and HEATHCLIFF (R Fourie) made contact leaving the stalls.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	On arriving at the start, the Jockeys reported that there was a shoe lying on the track in the vicinity of the 400m, which the track manager had to remove from the track. This caused a delay to the start of this race.
b)	IDEAL ANGEL (L Mxothwa) proved difficult to settle in the early stages.
c)	Approaching the 1300m MAGNUM FIRE (M Yeni) clipped the heels of AMERICAN LANDING (K Minnie) and stumbled.
d)	Jockey M Yeni reported that MAGNUM FIRE did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	In view of the performance of ZATARA MAGIC (C Maujean) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f)	LORD NELSON (L Nhlapo) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J Batt)
g)	HEATHCLIFF, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (HK)
h)	IDEAL ANGEL, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised. (HK)
