Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STATE OF MIND (T Gould) kicked the back gates in the starting stalls. b) OPERA SWING (K Steyn) jumped slow, losing one length. c) BADRAH (AUS) (C Maujean) and MEENEERA (Y Ramzan) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 150m MY AMI BEACH (J Gates) had to be checked away from the heels of BADRAH (AUS) (C Maujean) when tightened for galloping room between BADRAH (AUS) (C Maujean) and STATE OF MIND (T Gould), both of which shifted ground marginally. After reviewing this incident, the Stewards were satisfied that no blame could be attached to either Jockey C Maujean or T Gould and deemed this to be a racing incident. b) Jockeys J Gates and M van Rensburg, the riders of MY AMI BEACH and SALIENT POINT respectively, reported that these fillies did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. c) MAGNA MATER (M Thackeray) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J Batt) d) MEENEERA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JP Nel was advised.
