THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DA CAPO (*M K Katjedi) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) OYSTER KING (R Danielson) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. c) TREE FAIRY (G Lerena) and ARDEN PARK (J Penny) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) As the start was effected, TREE FAIRY (G Lerena) was brushed in by GREGOR MACGREGOR (J P van der Merwe), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) RATTLE BAG (*S Sosibo) brushed the inside running rail at the 1400m. c) Leaving the 300m, LUTHULI (M Yeni), which rolled in, and NOTHINGELSEMATTERS (K Matsunyane), which shifted out to avoid running onto the heels of WE ARE THE LOGANS (D Schwarz), came together and brushed. d) Jockey G Lerena, the rider of TREE FAIRY, briefly dropped his right-side rein at the 200m. e) WILLIAM IRON ARM (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A G Laird advised (MduP).
