THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CAPTAIN FONTANE (G Lerena) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The saddle on RIO QUERARI slipped back at the start which placed Jockey G van Niekerk at a disadvantage. b) An Inquiry will be held into Jockey S Khumalo's use of the crop. c) KASIMIR (B Fayd'Herbe) and BEREAVE (C Zackey) were hanging out from the 300m and were difficult to assist. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine these geldings. d) Jockey K de Melo reported that HELLO WINTER HELLO did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare. e) STRANGER DANGER (L Mxothwa) commenced to give ground quickly from the 400m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) BOHICA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Azzie was advised.
