Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DO IT AGAIN (B Fayd'Herbe), which was restless in the stalls, jumped awkwardly losing two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. b) JET DARK (S Khumalo) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MARINA (A Domeyer) raced wide on the bend and into the straight. b) Between the 200m and the 100m KOMMETDIEDING (G Lerena) and LINEBACKER (G van Niekerk) shifted in independently. c) Jockey B Fayd'Herbe was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking DO IT AGAIN more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey Fayd'Herbe signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account Jockey Fayd'Herbe's recent record in relation to this Rule, the distance over and manner in which Jockey Fayd'Herbe used his crop and the number of strikes (16) over the permissible level. d) KOMMETDIEDING, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Rix was advised. (TJ) e) JET DARK, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
