Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	CROME YELLOW (G van Niekerk) jumped slow, losing two lengths.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a)	In a slow run race CATCHAFALLINGSTAR (L Mxothwa) was bumped outwards when ONE WAY TRAFFIC (A Marcus) was steadied away from the heels of DOUBLEMINT (R Fourie) and shifted out at the 2500m.
b)	At the 500m ANSE LAZIO (AUS) (R Munger) was unable to secure a clear run between CROME YELLOW (G van Niekerk) and BAYBERRY (*R Venniker), was directed outwards and brushed SPARKLING WATER (S Khumalo).
c)	At the 350m ONE WAY TRAFFIC (A Marcus) took an awkward stride away from the inside running rail. As a consequence, BAYBERRY (*R Venniker), which was following, was directed outwards which resulted in CROME YELLOW (G van Niekerk) becoming awkwardly placed close to the heels of BAYBERRY (*R Venniker) and having to be switched inwards to continue its run.
d)	DOUBLEMINT (R Fourie) and CATCHAFALLINGSTAR (L Mxothwa) brushed at the 150m.
e)	Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking SPARKLING WATER more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey Khumalo signed an admission of guilt and was fined R3500,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account Jockey Khumalo's recent poor record in relation to this Rule, the distance over and manner in which Jockey Khumalo used his crop and the number of strikes (13) over the permissible level.
f)	SPARKLING WATER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M de Kock was advised. (TJ)
