THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HOLOCENE (C Zackey) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) VOLTE FACE (J R Syster) jumped awkwardly losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, GEORGE HANDEL (G Lerena) and HOLOCENE (C Zackey), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls, came together and bumped. b) JORDAN (C Habib) stumbled shortly after the start. c) HOLOCENE (C Zackey) over-raced in the early stages. d) At approximately the 400m, Jockey J R Syster (VOLTE FACE) was struck in the face by a clod. e) GEORGE HANDEL (G Lerena) hung in from the 300m. f) In view of the performance of HOLOCENE (C Zackey), (distance 7,25 lengths, betting 14/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) Jockey D Schwarz reported that JUSTCRUISINALONG did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. h) KING'S EXPRESS (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F P Habib advised (LK).
