THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JUMPING ANALIA (D Schwarz) was stubborn loading. Trainer A P Peter was advised to reschool this filly prior to her next engagement (GT). b) LOOK TO THE STARS (*M K Katjedi), DUELLONA (C Maujean) and RACING PIGEON (*P Mxoli) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) RACING PIGEON (*P Mxoli) hung in throughout while racing green on debut. b) LOOK TO THE STARS (*M K Katjedi) struck a bird at the 800m and thereafter commenced hang in from the 600m. c) In view of the performance of WAITFORGREENLIGHT (S Khumalo), (distance 4,50 lengths, betting 13/10), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Apprentice S Sosibo reported that SHINE IN MEMPHIS made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) MICKE'S BOMB (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Bronkhorst advised (MS). When questioned regarding the poor performance of MICKE'S BOMB on 27 June 2023, Trainer F Bronkhorst explained to Board that this filly had made an abnormal respiratory noise in running and that the fitting of the tongue tie in today's race, in his opinion, had accounted for the improved performance. Trainer F Bronkhorst has undertaken to race this filly similarly equipped in future. JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) WAITFORGREENLIGHT raced equipped with blinkers (declared 5 July 2023 at 08H15). b) MICKE'S BOMB raced with a tongue tie on (declared 8 July 2023 at 08H05). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) WAITFORGREENLIGHT examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) SHINE IN MEMPHIS scalp wound left hind. c) MICKE'S BOMB abnormal respiratory noise. d) JUMPING ANALIA mouth injury. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
