THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SCALLYWAG (D Schwarz) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 1200m, KAPTEIN (P Strydom) was carried out by FUTUREWOLFF (C Habib), which rolled out and was straightened. As a consequence of this, KAPTEIN (P Strydom) raced wide, without cover around the turn and into the straight. Thereafter, Jockey P Strydom reported that he felt something amiss with KAPTEIN in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) SCALLYWAG (D Schwarz), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A P Peter advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) TAMARISK TREE raced equipped with blinkers (declared 8 July 2023 at 08H46).
