Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MIA REGINA (J Gates) became restless and broke through the front gates. This filly was restrained by the Rider, returned to the start, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, declared fit to race and reloaded. The starting stall certificate for this filly has been withdrawn. Trainer A P Peter is to be advised. b) GIMME ROYALTY (K Matsunyane) and PRAYUPONASTAR (*S Sosibo) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MIA REGINA (J Gates) shifted out away from the crop from the 250m. b) In view of the performance of INSATIABLE (C Zackey), (distance 6,00 lengths, betting 33/10), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey C Zackey appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his ride on INSATIABLE. He explained that his instructions were to jump and race this filly from a forward position. After being slightly tardy away, this filly had not shown her usual speed and was unable to maintain the pace that was set by the front runners. He therefore elected to give her a chance and track GIMME THE FLAME (*K A Brewer) for a short distance and after switching out, he had failed to get the response he was hoping for and stayed on one paced. He further added that he felt this run may have come too soon following this filly's run on 8 July 2023, which may have accounted for her lack of early pace, and that she may be better suited to slightly further. d) In view of the Starter's report with regard to MIA REGINA, this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion. Suspension dates: 12 July 2023 to 18 July 2023. MIA REGINA may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer A P Peter is to be advised. e) WHAT A TIGER (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F P Habib advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) GIMME ROYALTY was ridden by Jockey K Matsunyane (declared 11 July 2023 at 08H43).
